Across The City is the name given to the growing collection of web sites using the ChurchInsight platform to support their ministry. It is not a network or a denomination, but a community of communities, linked by technology.
Although Across The City lists sites in cyberspace, its structure is based on geography. Our vision is to enable organisations to work together in every town and city, by sharing resources, publicity and community - online and on the ground. It is not an an attempt to create unity by creating something new. It is about linking together existing efforts for the shared goals of furthering the Christian message.
No affiliations or formal relationships should be implied between the organisations in Across The City, however as common ground we try to ensure that all organisations have a spiritual basis consistent with the Evangelical Alliance statement of faith.
As the number of ChurchInsight web sites continues to grow nationally and internationally we see a number of benefits arising from the Across The City community:
- City and regionally based web sites automatically aggregating events and forums from local churches.
- Charities and ministries resourcing and connecting directly with church members.
- Special interest communities (eg children's workers, worship leaders) forming to equip and support individuals in their local situation.
- Teaching, resources, skills and ministry being produced and syndicated across the web sites.
We see Across The City as an integral part of the ministry of ChurchInsight, a practical way to enable a better experience of church.
